Burnished Leaves Great Fosters autumn wedding flowers

I met with Sara and Nick way back in 2011 to talk through their dreams for their upcoming wedding at Great Fosters and to discuss their wedding flowers.  When I asked them about the theme for their wedding, Sara produced a lovely print she had brought over from New York, with a thick carpet of leaves in the most amazing shades of autumn, taken in a romantic tree lined NY avenue.  She wanted everything to stem from this, from the ceremony area to the guest table displays.  When I saw Sara on the morning of the wedding, beautifully made up by Sharon Ross she had already been downstairs to see our handywork and she was over the moon and speechless at the result.

Sara’s bouquet used a mixture of Talea roses, ivory Avalanche roses, ivory spray roses and pale apricot orange Primma Donna roses, to create a textural bouquet to complement her stunning Vera Wang ruffles chiffon dress.  The bridesmaid had a similar version with added Coffee Break roses, for a deeper colour mix and the men had buttonholes of Coffee Break, or Talea or Cherry Brandy roses framed by autumn leaves.  For the wedding ceremony in the Great Fosters Orangery, we created tall dramatic tree like centrepieces in grand urns, to stand either side of the ceremony area, using chunky silver birch and a dramatic mix of atumnal foliage and burnt orange and crean roses.  True to Sara’s inspiring visual, we lined the aisle with burnished oak leaves and dotted hurricane lamps every few steps.  These nicely complemented the gorgeous burnt orange organza sashes from Host With Style.

In the middle of the Tithe Barn, we used 4 tall tree like displays potted in whitewashed pots, created from the wonderful trunks of silver birch trees, decorated with vines and pine cones and with large spheres of atumn foliage and roses at the top.  For the tables under the eaves, where the ceiling is lower, we used 4 twiggy centrepieces rising up from the middle of large domes of flowers and autumnal foliage, and for the central top table, we embelished Sara’s twiggy wreath with gorgous roses and amber foliage.  We decorated the cup cake table with atumn oak leaves and twiggy pumpkins, and put little orange spray roses and leaves amongst the cute cup cakes.  And for the minstrel gallery, we created two letters out of Cherry Brandy roses and icelandic moss and hung pretty rustic wicker hearts from them.  All in all a really lovely and unusual wedding which revitalised my creativity buds and saturated my senses with autumn colour, ready for the onset of all white of winter weddings.
